The Netflix documentary Court of Gold gave fans a behind-the-scenes look at the 2024 Men’s Olympic Basketball Tournament. Although Team USA won gold, countless teams and players were shown in a new light during the documentary. Many could be considered winners of the NBA Olympics documentary. Let’s break down the show’s best moments and biggest winners.
Biggest Winners of Netflix’s Court of Gold Documentary
USA Veterans Stephen Curry and Kevin Durant
Team USA got a lot of shine during Court of Gold. Not only did they win the Olympic gold medal in incredible fashion, but NBA fans got to see some amazing behind-the-scenes moments of some of the biggest stars in the league. LeBron James won the tournament MVP, but his fellow veteran legends, Stephen Curry and Kevin Durant, were the biggest winners from the documentary.
Fans got to see a side of Durant they rarely get. Durant has been a somewhat surly superstar in his latter years, but watching him break into tears just because of how much he loves basketball was an iconic moment of the series. Durant was also honored as perhaps the greatest scorer in US Olympics history. Watching team Serbia yell at each other in the locker room after Durant torched them with a hot first half was a highlight as well.
Kevin Durant got emotional when talking about playing on the Olympic stage in the new Netflix documentary:
“I looked in the crowd, it’s 27,000 people from all walks of life, all different countries …coming together for basketball. It’s incredible to see that. So as much as I… pic.twitter.com/Aavetww87e

Curry is probably the biggest winner of the whole show. Sure, he struggled early in the Olympics and didn’t win MVP, but the show barely showed that! It focused on him as the hero that brought home gold. The reverence people spoke with regarding him during the interviews brought even more attention to his already legendary career. The show also perfectly captures why Curry is so beloved. His humble greatness and relationships with others stood out to everyone.
Bogdan Bogdanovic and Team Serbia
“99.99999% of the players in the world would have missed that shot. Only one guy could have made it. Him.”

A lesser-known NBA player who got a lot of camera time in Netflix’s Court of Gold was Clippers’ shooting guard, Bogdan Bogdanovic. Bogdanovic was the captain for Team Serbia and (along with Nikola Jokic) helped the team secure a bronze medal. The documentary showed us a glimpse of Bogdanovic’s leadership that fans aren’t used to getting from the NBA role player.
Team Serbia was also an amazing watch. The intensity and pride they played with were second to none in the tournament. The documentary showed how important basketball is to their country, as well as why Eastern Europe has had some of the best basketball programs in the world. The team getting hammered before the medal ceremony after grabbing the bronze was a perfect ending to their run.
Victor Wembanayama and Team France’s Future
France ultimately fell short of grabbing the gold medal on their home court, but their Olympic run was still impressive. Thanks to the rising star of Victor Wembanyama, they only lost narrowly to Team USA in the gold medal game.
At only 20 years old (at the time of the 2024 Olympics), Wembanyama was a key member of one of the best non-USA Olympic basketball teams we have seen in years. Seeing him break down after the loss to the USA showed how much he cares and will do anything to win. This is why the end of the documentary was so perfect. Wembanyama warns the world that he isn’t planning to lose many more international games in the future. The reality is, he could be right.
