
A broken season gets a brief and beautiful moment of joy.
The long, painful, soul-crushing losing streak is finally over. After weeks of despair, the Phoenix Suns have won a game. Their first in the month of April. You might say it’s too little, too late. And you’d be right. The season is all but lost. But still…there was something beautiful about it.
There was something healing in watching our team finally put one in the win column. To see players like Ryan Dunn step up and deliver a quality performance. It reminded us of what we love about this game. Of what we love about this team.
And yet, that joy is tinged with sadness. Because we know the clock is winding down. Only one more game remains. One more chance to hear the squeak of sneakers on hardwood, to feel that flicker of hope with every shot, to let ourselves believe—if only for a moment.
No, this season didn’t go the way we hoped. It didn’t come close. Expectations were shattered. Dreams fell apart. But I never stopped loving Suns basketball. I love the rhythm of it, the anticipation that builds throughout the day, the comfort it brings at night. And knowing that’s about to be gone…it hits hard.

I’m frustrated because I care. Because I still care. And tonight? Tonight, it just felt good to watch a basketball game again. It felt good to remember why we endure the heartbreak in the first place. Because this team, in all its flawed, infuriating, glorious imperfection? This team is ours.
