The Phoenix Suns season is a mess.
Just when you thought the season couldn’t get any worse, this news drops. We’ve seen it all this year.
Chris Haynes shared that weeks ago, Phoenix Suns head coach Mike Budenholzer called Devin Booker into his office to issue a complaint. The complaint was that Booker was being too vocal on the court and during timeout huddles. He implored Booker to tone it down to allow for the coach’s voice to be heard.
“This completely shocked Booker,” Haynes added.

Devin Booker spoke about the lack of communication after last night’s loss to the Pelicans. It was the most frustrated we’ve seen him in an interview in quite some time.
Booker postgame: “It can be fixed with a little more talking, I’d say. Things get tough, we get quiet as a team.”
MUST LISTEN Devin Booker as frustrated as I’ve ever heard him after a game…. “Things get tough and we get quiet as a team.. at some point you got to draw a line.. should’ve been drawn a long time ago… I always look at myself first, but I also talk a lot.” @12SportsAZ pic.twitter.com/BVpJxShrJv

“I’d rather two people say the wrong thing to each other than nobody talk at all and leave the gray area. I always look at myself first, but I also talk a lot,” Booker added.
At the time, it just seemed like a normal “frustrated with the loss” type of rant, but with this nugget dropping today, it looks like it was a direct shot at Mike Budenholzer.
This report is one-sided, and I’m sure we will learn more about the story as time passes. Either way, it’s a distraction that can’t be happening during the season for a team with enough of those as is.
Devin Booker has had 7 coaches in 10 seasons during his career in Phoenix.
It’s not his fault at all; a lot of weird circumstantial stuff happened when he was young here.
Devin Booker has had 7 coaches in 10 years in Phoenix. With this information dropping, it looks like it will be 8 next year.

With this dropping today, it feels like number eight could be well on its way this summer. Monty Williams is the only coach who has lasted more than one year since Booker has arrived. Most of it is circumstantial to what he inherited when joining the Suns as a young player, but it is still a wild statistic.
Phoenix has now attempted to trade Kevin Durant without him knowing/asking for a trade and told Devin Booker to stay quiet within the last month.
Quite the accomplishment from a franchise that is quickly sinking.
The Suns host the Pelicans in the second of a back-to-back tonight at 7 pm. They are looking to avoid losing their fourth straight game.
