RIP to the 2024-25 Phoenix Suns.
There is no doubt many of you may have already arrived at this conclusion, but for those who held on to post-ASB hope, this is for you.
The Phoenix Suns are done.
Time of death: Sunday, February 23rd ~6 pm AZ time.

In the wise words of Ricky Rubio: “Never too high, never too low.”
The lows have stacked up to the point where this isn’t meant to be an overreaction piece. The Phoenix Suns are finished. This team is a lifeless mess with zero hope for an unexpected run despite having the talent to do so.
There is no way this team should be 27-30 and losing to lottery teams as consistently as they have been. Defense? Nonexistent. Fire? None. Passion? Nada.
Phoenix is now three games under .500 and faces a brutally tough schedule to close out the season with negative momentum. The outside noise should only intensify with every loss.
If the Suns beat the Raptors (like they should have) then there’s potential momentum and positive takeaways that could propel them to make a run. While we would have remained skeptical, it would’ve been a step in the right direction.
Instead, they lost to another lottery team and dug the hole deeper.

The Upcoming Schedule
Take a look at this upcoming 11-game stretch for Phoenix. Count how many wins you expect. I see three that I feel “good” about and two of them are against the Pelicans in a back-to-back, which is no guarantee with how they looked vs. them earlier this year.
3-8 sound good?

In reality, winning anything over 5 games during this would be unexpected. It’s not impossible with an upset or two and an injury break going their way. But even then, the Suns going 5-6 puts them four games below .500 with 11 fewer games remaining on the schedule with the gap closing quickly.
What if they only scratch out 3-4 wins? The math starts to get even more damning.
It’s an uphill battle they do not look prepared for. Their only hope is the Kings imploding along with them. I cannot see them passing any of the other teams above them at this point.
Things are fine?
Kevin Durant stated: “Tonight, if I had made more shots, we probably would have won… I gotta come with it if I want us to win. If we want us to win, I gotta come better than what I did tonight.”

He also went on X/Twitter to go at Dan Bickley and regarding one of his segments. These were real tweets that I saw on the timeline, but have since been deleted.

While it’s not out of the norm for KD to go at folks online, it is not the first time he has been agitated with local media.
Every move Mike Budenholzer makes is under a microscope. Bradley Beal’s family has shown their frustration with fans. He (Beal) made the quote that he “holds all the cards”. Kevin Durant looks fed up with local media and saw his name in trade rumors. He had to publicly state that he didn’t want to be traded yet the Suns were shopping him. Mat Ishbia has received heavy criticism for this project’s failure.
The vibes just do not seem great all around in any department. Winning cures all, but this team can’t even do that right now.
The summer cannot come soon enough. You can toss whatever shred of hope you had left into the garbage.
Hang in there, Suns fans.
