Following the Houston Rockets’ acquisition of multiple first round picks from the Phoenix Suns via the Brooklyn Nets, there was widespread speculation that Kevin Durant wants to be traded or that the team wants to trade him. The Suns were swept in the first round of the playoffs by the Minnesota Timberwolves and lack meaningful ways to improve their existing roster.
The Suns would reportedly like the opportunity to evaluate how the team plays under Mike Budenholzer before making any major trade decisions, which was publicly confirmed by James Jones.
“It’s the stuff that gets clicks and that everyone wants to talk about, but I think I said it specifically back on May 19th when I was asked are we trading Kevin Durant,” said Jones following Wednesday’s draft. “I said ‘no’ then, I’ll say ‘no’ now. I’Il continue to get asked.”
