Jimmy Butler has communicated to the Golden State Warriors that he’s unwilling to sign an extension with the franchise, which has ended trade talks with the Miami Heat for now, sources tell Brian Windhorst of ESPN.
When Butler trade talks began in December, the Warriors were on his list of preferred teams along with the Phoenix Suns, Houston Rockets and Dallas Mavericks. Butler has appeared to zero in on the Suns, but the team currently lacks a viable path to acquiring him.
Butler is currently suspended by the Heat through at least the trade deadline. The Heat have become increasingly motivated to trade Butler in recent days, but it remains to be seen whether they will find an acceptable trade.
Butler has a $52.4 million player option for the 25-26 season.
