Instagram’s “Threads” app is emerging as Twitter’s newest competitor.
With Elon Musk’s Twitter drawing criticism in recent weeks, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerburg is looking to capitalize with this new text-based social media app.
Professional athletes often use apps like Twitter to connect with their fans (and haters). And no professional athlete does this more than “chronically-online” NBA superstar Kevin Durant.
On Thursday morning, KD announced that he’s signed up for the new Threads app.
“On threads with the burner. Come find me,” he wrote on Twitter.

Durant is infamous for his online activity — both with his main account and his “burner” accounts. In 2017, Durant forgot to switch off his burner account when hitting the Twitter replies to defend himself.

Durant has received a lot of grief for this mistake over the years, but it appears he’s finally developed a sense of humor about the situation.
