Phoenix Suns star Kevin Durant has acquired an ownership stake in one of the world’s most popular sports teams. The 35-year-old has earned around $483.2 million through his NBA salary alone, not including his lucrative endorsement deals. The two-time NBA Finals MVP is putting the money to good use by preparing for his post-playing career endeavors with smart investments.

PSG Is A Well-Known Club Throughout The World
Kevin Durant has acquired a minority stake in French soccer club Paris Saint-Germain (PSG), one of the most popular teams in the world. The three-time NBA scoring champion finalized the deal during his visit to France as a member of Team USA for the men’s basketball competition in the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris.
Durant bought his ownership share in the reigning Ligue 1 champions through Arctos Partners. The private equity firm purchased a 12.5 percent stake in the club in December 2023. Meanwhile, the 2014 NBA Most Valuable Player’s investment is reportedly worth around “single-digit millions.”
The NBA 75th Anniversary Team member visited a PSG team training session on August 5, amid the 2024 Paris Olympics, where he met with club president Nasser Al-Khelaïfi and manager Luis Enrique. The 14-time NBA All-Star observed training sessions, specifically of the women’s team and the youth squad. The French powerhouse released a statement hinting at a collaboration.
“It was an honour to host Kevin Durant today at the PSG Campus and witness his passion for Paris Saint-Germain, sports excellence and community. Kevin is an inspirational athlete, investor, and universal role model, both on and off the court. We are extremely proud that he’s becoming closer to the PSG family and shares our same values and vision. We look forward to working closely with Kevin and Boardroom to bring the best of sports and entertainment to fans around the world.”
Roughly a week after the visit, the former Texas Longhorn announced his investment in the soccer club through his own media company Boardroom. He launched the platform specializing in sports, entertainment, and culture with longtime business partner Rich Kleiman in 2019.
“Durant and Kleiman’s sports and entertainment media network Boardroom will work with Paris Saint-Germain to develop a multi-faceted collaboration that spans content and strategy.”
Durant’s Previous Soccer Investment
Kevin Durant’s investment in PSG is not his first foray into the sport. The 6-foot-10 forward previously acquired a five percent stake in the MLS team, the Philadelphia Union, in June 2020. He also has the option to purchase an additional five percent stake in the team to double his share in the future.
Likewise, Durant has been expanding his business endeavors as a significant investor in numerous startups through his investment firm, Thirty Five Ventures, allowing his wealth to grow passively even beyond his playing career.
