It’s hard to imagine an NBA world where players like Kevin Durant aren’t in it. But when KD eventually hangs his Nikes up for good, the 14-time All-Star has an idea of who he thinks will be running the league 10 years from now.
In a sit-down interview with Rich Kleiman for his Boardroom media network, Durant was asked who he thinks will be the best player in the league in a decade and it didn’t take long for him to point to Spurs rookie Victor Wembanyama.
10 years, so that’s what… [2034] — Victor. … Wembanyama.
KD was also asked about Minnesota Timberwolves guard Anthony Edwards and referred to both he and Wembanyama as “team-builders.”
He’s a team-builder. Like his personality and demeanor is something you can build around and have people come into the gym and say, ‘Yo, be like that.’ Those are the ones. … Being a great teammate and bringing everybody with him. … There’s so many that I think can be that for franchises but off top — Ant and Vic. Those two for sure can be that.
Both players have already shifted the culture for their respective teams and have folks in those cities believing again. The 39-16 Timberwolves have the best record in the West, while Wemby is already leading San Antonio in points, rebounds, steals and blocks.
Who are you giving the keys to in 10 years?
