Phoenix Suns superstar Kevin Durant had some things to say to ESPN’s Stephen A. Smith about the ongoing presidential run rumors surrounding the media personality.
On Tuesday’s edition of First Take, Smith addressed the Suns’ poor 2024-25 season, which ended in a 36-46 record and the team missing the playoffs. The banner of the discussion was “How much blame does Durant deserve for the Suns season?”
Smith had some harsh words for Suns owner Mat Ishbia while giving his take, and KD wasn’t in the mood to hear it.
Taking to X yesterday, Durant replied to a user remarking on what Smith was saying. Durant largely dismissed it, joking that Smith is “trying to run for president” so would wouldn’t have time to pay attention to a struggling basketball team.
“Steve is trying to run for president, u think he actually paid attention to a struggling team?? It’s called propaganda,” Durant wrote.

As with just about everything Kevin Durant says, his replies were filled with either fans agreeing with him or people who hate him and told him off for speaking out against Smith.
“Insane how they got nasty agendas against you. Will never make sense to me,” one user said.
“Bro you not a leader just accept it lmao you still have all your money whats the big deal,” another said.
“KD, I’m riding with you on that SAS call, propaganda and bs is his calling card.”
“You know you’re not a good leader.”
“bro shut up and focus on helping ur team make the playoffs kid.”
Durant finished the 2024-25 season averaging 26.6 points, 7.0 rebounds and 4.4 assists per game in 62 games. He made the 15th All-Star game of his career.
Shortly after the season ended though, the Suns decided to fire head coach Mike Budenholzer after just one year at the helm.
It remains to be seen what the future of the organization looks like in both the short- and long-term.
