As the trade deadline approaches, Durant lets it be known that he does not want to leave Phoenix.
Kevin Durant of the Phoenix Suns wants to stay in Phoenix and finish the rest of the season as a Sun. There was speculation that, because the Miami Heat did not want to make a deal sending Jimmy Butler to the Suns for Bradley Beal, the Suns would change the narrative and forgo a trade involving Durant to the Golden State Warriors, which would reunite him with Steph Curry.

An initial reaction on Suns Twitter speculated that the Suns would end up with Jimmy Butler and roll with a big three of Devin Booker, Bradley Beal, and Butler after the trade deadline.
However, that was not what Suns fans wanted to see, as they hoped Durant would remain a Sun.
Trading Durant to bring in Jimmy makes absolutely zero sense.
It’s both or neither. Not one or the other. https://t.co/AtquqAFn52

Durant’s presence in Phoenix has been pivotal, not just for his on-court production but also for the championship experience he brings to the team. Fans recognize that his ability to perform in high-pressure situations is irreplaceable, and losing him could significantly impact the Suns’ only chances of contending for a title even if it seems slim.
The Suns might be heading back to the drawing board in hopes of improving the team without trading Durant or Beal, because, from the sound of things, the Suns are out of luck when it comes to making up for mistakes made in constructing this roster.
Do we see any moves headed the Suns’ way? Let’s just hope for the best.
With the trade deadline approaching, the Suns’ front office will need to get creative if they want to address the team’s weaknesses. While blockbuster trades may be off the table, minor moves to bolster the bench, defensive versatility, and size could be the key to helping the Suns make a deep playoff run.
