Duane Rankin: “I wouldn’t put it in those kind of drastic terms.” Suns coach Mike Budenholzer when asked what “broke the camel’s back” with Jusuf Nurkic getting benched. “It’s a long season. He didn’t play a couple of games and now he’s been sick. He’s home reconditioning. We’ll see how he comes through when we go back. We all got to find a way to be better defensively, be better offensively. The whole group.” #Suns pic.x.com/qvf2rEnWqq

“Overall, our execution wasn’t good enough against the zone. Our aggressiveness, I think, needs to be better. They used it effectively tonight.”

“Cleveland is good. Give them credit. They played well both ends of the court. Right out of the gate, a couple of 3s created a big separation kind of within the first two minutes of the third quarter. I think we were down 20.” Mike Budenholzer on Suns loss to Cavs. #Suns pic.x.com/wXA4jjEQcr – 7:17 PM

The Suns are making calls about the two veterans they just moved to the bench, though they have yet to ask Beal for his thoughts about any potential trade, team sources said. Beal’s sign-off is necessary, considering he can veto any deal that includes him. He would consider waiving his no-trade clause for the right destination, according to a source familiar with his thinking. But as of now, management hasn’t gauged whether he wants out — and if so, to where? It’s not Beal’s style to approach a front office on his own. He went 11 years in Washington without asking for a trade. -via New York Times / January 21, 2025
Duane Rankin: Mike Budenholzer is expecting Bradley Beal (ankle) to play today against Cleveland. As for Jusuf Nurkic, he’ll remain in Phoenix for the remainder of the road trip as he’s listed as “return to competition reconditioning.” Suns conclude 5-game trip Wednesday at Brooklyn. #Suns -via Twitter @DuaneRankin / January 20, 2025
