Bronny James is receiving so much interest ahead of the NBA Draft that fans can’t rule out the possibility of him being a first-round pick.
James has a workout scheduled with the Phoenix Suns ahead of the NBA Draft, according to Shams Charania of The Athletic.
Charania added that Phoenix may consider taking James with the 22nd overall pick. Of course, the Suns haven’t made a decision yet.
“Phoenix has the 22nd pick and he is among several players in consideration,” Charania said. “Bronny has over 10 workout invites but is expected to only visit a few teams, including Lakers and Suns.”
Maybe, just maybe, the Suns could use James off the bench as a spot-up shooter.
What’s interesting about this report from Charania is that ESPN’s latest mock draft currently has James going No. 54 overall to the Boston Celtics. He’d need to crush his private workouts in order to secure a spot in the first round.
James averaged 4.8 points and 2.8 rebounds in his only season at USC. Although he didn’t show much on tape, he had an impressive showing at the NBA Combine.
“My dream has always just been to put my name out, make a name for myself, and, of course, get to the NBA,” Bronny told reporters.
The NBA Draft will take place from June 26-27.
