The Phoenix Suns will be without Kevin Durant for the next little while.
Per ESPN’s Shams Charania, Durant suffered a left calf strain during Friday’s game against the Dallas Mavericks and will be re-evaluated in two weeks. He’ll miss at least the next two weeks of game action before the Suns figure out when he can come back.

This is a brutal loss for the Suns since Durant has helped them win eight of their first nine games. Durant finished the game with 26 points, five rebounds, and four assists.
He was a major reason why the Suns got the one-point win against the Mavericks and led the team in scoring.
Durant has been off to an insane start to the 2024-25 season, averaging 27.6 points, 6.6 rebounds, and 3.4 assists per game. He’s only had one game where he has scored less than 20 points this season.
This is a Suns team that’s all-in for this season but will have to survive without him for at least the next couple of weeks. They’ll have to rely a bit more on Devin Booker and Bradley Beal, plus will need their depth to step up.
The Suns will have seven games over the next two weeks and 10 in the month of November before the calendar flips to December. If they can go around .500 in those games before Durant is potentially ready to return, that would be massive for the rest of their season.
They’ve made the playoffs four seasons in a row but got swept by the Minnesota Timberwolves in the first round of last year’s playoffs. Their best result during this four-season stretch was making the NBA Finals during the 2020-21 season before they lost to the Milwaukee Bucks.
Their next game will be against the Sacramento Kings on Sunday. Tip-off will be at 8 p.m. ET.
