With playoffs in sight the Suns need to capitalize on favorable matchups in February.
Could it have been better? No doubt. Was it awful? Not even close. The Phoenix Suns closed out January with a 10-5 record, a much-needed surge that not only pushed them back over .500 but also gave them some momentum in a brutally competitive Western Conference

There were a lot of trades, rumors, and a public benching, and there’s a good chance that the roster looks significantly different less than a week from now, with the trade deadline on Thursday. There are a lot of repeat opponents this month, a few new ones, and the All-Star break saddled in the middle of it.
Here’s a peek at the Suns’ schedule the next month:
Finishing the season series and road trip
Saturday, February 1st: @ Portland Trailblazers
Monday, February 3rd: @ Portland Trailblazers
Wednesday, February 5th: @ Oklahoma City Thunder
Entering the month (tonight), the Blazers and Suns will finish their season series against each other with a baseball series, playing two games in three nights in Oregon. While Portland has struggled on the year and is just 19-29, they’ve won six of seven, including an impressive victory against the Milwaukee Bucks earlier this week.
To round up the road trip that started last night with a win against the Golden State Warriors, the Valley will head to Oklahoma City to face the Thunder. The young bucks in Oklahoma have had the Suns’ number for the past two seasons; it’s been nearly two years since Phoenix has beaten them.
A homestand with a back-to-back and a long break
Friday, February 7th: vs. Utah Jazz
Saturday, February 8th: vs. Denver Nuggets
Tuesday, February 11th: vs. Memphis Grizzlies
Phoenix hasn’t lost to the Jazz since 2022. With an easier opponent on the schedule, the Suns should look to get ahead early and not look back so they can prepare for the Denver Nuggets the following night. Phoenix and Denver have had some competitive matchups the past few times they’ve played, including the Suns’ first win on Christmas in over 15 years earlier season.
After their back-to-back, the Valley will face Memphis. Earlier this season, Memphis got the best of the Suns with Ja Morant out because of a slow start for Phoenix and Jaren Jackson Jr.’s 38-point and 12-rebound masterclass.
After the homestand, the Valley won’t play another game at the Footprint Center until February 27th.
A long road trip with the All-Star Break saddled inside of it
Wednesday, February 12th: @ Houston Rockets
Thursday, February 20th: @ San Antonio Spurs
Saturday, February 22nd: @ Chicago Bulls
Sunday, February 23rd: @ Toronto Raptors
Tuesday, February 25th: @ Memphis Grizzlies
The first game of the road trip appears to be the toughest for the Suns. Coming off of a home game against the Grizzlies the night before, Phoenix has to travel to Texas to face the two-seed Rockets for the first time of the season. The team’s elite athleticism, length, and depth are attributes the Suns have not handled well this season; it’s why the Minnesota Timberwolves and Indiana have had the Suns’ number of late.
After the All-Star break, the Valley will face Victor Wembanyama (and possibly De’Aaron Fox?) before they travel up North and face the Bulls and Raptors. While Phoenix didn’t take care of Toronto when they went up to Canada last year, their squad is much worse than a season ago, however, Phoenix has shown a tendency to blow games they have no business losing.
To round out the road trip, the Suns will take a visit to Memphis for the first time this season and then won’t play another game on the road until next month.
Baseball series with NOLA to end the month at home
Thursday, February 27th: vs New Orleans Pelicans
Friday, February 28th: : vs New Orleans Pelicans
To end the month, the Suns will play the Pelicans in two straight contests; they start the month with a baseball series and end it with one. New Orleans got the Suns’ number earlier this season with Kevin Durant out. The two home games begin the team’s four-game homestand, their second-longest remaining of the year.
The team has just one nationally televised game this month, which will come on Tuesday, February 11th. The schedule isn’t the most brutal, but it’s certainly not easy. With a lot of breaks and back-to-backs this month, the Suns will be living the life of an NBA team to a tee.
