Watching this team over the years could have been better for Phoenix Suns fans. In recent years, the leaf has turned since their bubble run in 2020, with them adding talent and competing every season. Through these successful years, the Suns have switched owners from Robert Sarver to Mat Ishbia. Ishbia became the Suns’ owner in 2022 he has ensured this team stays relevant. Not only has he made marquee moves for the team on the court, trading for Kevin Durant and Bradley Beal, but he is also said to be interested in Jimmy Butler. He is willing to do whatever the team needs to win on the court, but also he has been a blessing to the fans off the court.

Mat Ishbia Lowers Concession Prices
Mat Ishbia has just added some bonus points from the Suns fans as he did the unthinkable. As we all know, going to any professional sports game is expensive. Depending on the area or team, it can vary, but for most of us, especially families, to go, it is costly, not to mention the food and memorabilia you may want to obtain. Well, Mat Ishbia just sent a lovely gift to his fans as he announced today that they would be rolling out a family value meal for the remaining Suns’ home games.
Appreciate all the great tweets and photos! I couldn’t pick just 10 people, so I DM’d or replied to 15 winners… so make sure you check your messages! I will keep everyone in mind too that posted if there is another opportunity this season. Go Suns! https://t.co/KWnahKPm9d

Winning starts with our fans. When I walk the concourse at games there aren’t food options for families who don’t want to spend a lot of money. That needs to change, so today we’re rolling out our $2 value menu for all home @Suns games. pic.twitter.com/BsluNoKD5P

It has five items: a hotdog, a bag of chips, water, fountain soda, and popcorn. They will all be priced at $2, a significant drop in some of the menu’s previous prices. This is a brilliant idea from Mat Ishbia to give back to the Suns fans. Earlier this season, he gave away his suite tickets to some fans who responded to him on the social media site X. These are just two of his small moves, but ultimately, they may be the big ones. These types of gestures by the owner show that he does not care only about winning and giving the fans a good product to watch. This also indicates that he knows what means most about the team and its fans.
Did Ishbia Set an Example for Other Owners to Follow?
That remains the actual question. Mat Ishbia did this by showing the fans he truly cares about them. Phoenix has not been historically not as a big market, just in recent years with success. Other smaller market teams should try it out, too. Earlier in the season, the Utah Jazz adopted similar prices for concessions. Regardless of the record, it gives a reason to incentivize the fans to come out and see you play. Once an owner can build the fanbase’s trust, the fans will overflow if he can prove he can win on the court.
The Last Word
Truly, Mat Ishbia has done the right thing by lowering these concession stand prices for the fans. I think he set a precedent for other owners to follow, and the Suns fans should be grateful he is their owner. He still looks to improve, and I know he will give everything to the city of Phoenix.
