Kevin Durant and the Phoenix Suns will not sign a contract extension before Monday’s deadline. Durant has two seasons remaining on his contract and is only eligible for a one-year extension. Next offseason, Durant will become eligible for a two-year extension. “I’m told there will not be an extension there for Kevin Durant,” said Shams Charania on NBA Today.

Dunn screen for Durant, who looked inside to Plumlee, who lost the ball before gathering it.
Dunn 0-for-2 from 3. Suns down 48-45 with 6:13 left in the half. Much better 2nd quarter defensively, but Davis just recently checked back into the game in the 2nd quarter. #Suns – 10:50 PM

Current lineup: Beal, Jones, Dunn, Durant and Plumlee.
Suns have been having different combinations. This could lead to more than a typical 10-man rotation. He’s played 11 guys already and this is without Grayson Allen.

More on this storyline
“I saw Woj on the concourse in Vegas and he’s like ‘I really like what you’re doing and I think you’d be really good with our group and give us a front-office perspective. But you’ve gotta write.’ He’s like you actually have to write 2,000-word articles and stuff. I had to figure that part out. I had never done that before. *Fortunately for me, I got two freelance articles with HoopsHype before I actually started with The Vertical at Yahoo. My first article was how Golden State could sign Kevin Durant.* This was a year before they actually went out and signed them. And fortunately, my wife is a school teacher and she started the paragraph and showed me how to write a good middle and the conclusion. I always have nightmares when I have an assignment due because I’m not Zach Lowe, I’m not Brian Windhorst, or Ramona Shelburne, or Woj, or Tim Bontemps. I didn’t go to school to study journalism and anything like that.” -via Awful Announcing / October 18, 2024
While both teams have some of the biggest stars in the league, like Anthony Davis, LeBron James, Kevin Durant, Devin Booker and Bradley Beal, the spotlight shined bright on a young star during the game. Lakers rookie Dalton Knecht played a phenomenal game for Los Angeles, tying Davis for a game-high 35 points off the bench. Following his incredible performance, where Knecht also added one assist and seven rebounds, LeBron James chimed in to share his thoughts. -via athlonsports.com / October 18, 2024
“I’m not even thinking about it,” Durant said after Thursday’s shootaround at the team’s practice facility. “I’m just going to play out my contract really, and just focus on that. Focus on the team. I haven’t even really had conversations with anybody about a contract. Trying to focus on basketball.” -via Arizona Republic / October 17, 2024
