Phoenix Suns superstar Kevin Durant held himself accountable for his 5-of-15 shooting performance in the Phoenix Suns’ 127-109 loss to the Toronto Raptors at Scotiabank Arena on Sunday afternoon. Via Duane Rankin:
“I got to come with it if I want us to win,” Durant said.
“I got to come with it if I want us to win. If we want us to win, I’ve got to come better than what I did tonight.”

The Suns’ 10-0 fourth-quarter run put them in a position to win. Trailing 105-103 with 5:02 left, the Suns — who allowed the Raptors 20 made threes — surrendered seven in a row. The Suns eventually lost 127-109.
“Our game plan was to lock up the paint and make them shoot over us in the paint,” said Durant, via Rankin. “We did that, and they countered us with knocking down more threes.”

RJ Barrett scored three of the seven consecutive three-pointers for the Raptors. With 1:45 left, Devin Booker, who led both teams with 31 points, fouled Barrett on a three and he converted a free throw for the four-point play.
The Suns have now lost five of their last six games and carry a 2-8 record in the month of February after going 10-5 in January. Phoenix is now 1.5 games behind the Sacramento Kings for the final NBA Play-In spot.
Durant, who was traded to the Suns in February of 2023 shortly after Mat Ishbia assumed ownership of the organization, might be on his way out the door this upcoming offseason. It’s on the Suns to make sure it does not slam shut if those trade rumors turn out to be a reason why he chooses to be traded in the summer.
