I think the main thing that’s been lost in all this discussion about Beal and the Suns is that Chris Haynes broke this news with “HaynesBriefs” hashtag. That is truly phenomenal stuff – 1:46 AM

Worth revisiting these quotes from November from Brad Beal in light of the Suns’ decision to swap him out of the starting lineup.
“They were using me more as a facilitator than a scorer and honestly, that kind of f—ed with my head,” Beal told ESPN. espn.com/nba/story/_/id… – 12:28 AM

Deciding to bring Bradley Beal off the bench while the whole no-trade clause thing is a major topic of discussion seems like a pretty clear message. One way or another, we’ve reached a point of no return – 12:15 AM

I can see sending Beal to the bench (plus MAYBE he’d waive the no-trade if he’s annoyed he’s not starting?) but putting Plumlee into the starting lineup is not a recipe to help anything. What exactly does he do well at this point? – 12:08 AM

Brian Windhorst and Marc Stein have both reported that the Suns are the most aggressive team pursuing Jimmy Butler, but that the Heat have no interest in Bradley Beal. That means a deal would require a 3rd team to take Beal, where he’d be willing to waive his no-trade clause – 5:02 PM

The one team that is not essentially low balling Heat on Jimmy inquiries is Suns, per Windy. But it was reiterated to me that Heat is not interested in anything requiring them to take Beal. – 1:34 PM

More on this storyline
The Phoenix Suns are among the teams interested in trading for Butler, but the complication is that Suns guard Bradley Beal would very likely need to be involved in that deal to make the salary-cap math work. The Heat is not interested in acquiring Beal’s no-trade clause, meaning the Suns would need to find a third team to take Beal and Beal would also need to approve of being dealt to that team. -via Miami Herald / January 6, 2025
