The Phoenix Suns are expected to work with Kevin Durant and Rich Klieman on a trade this offseason, reports ESPN’s Shams Charania. Multiple teams are expected to pursue Durant. Charania previously reported that the Minnesota Timberwolves, Miami Heat, New York Knicks, San Antonio Spurs and Houston Rockets are among the teams with expected interest in Durant. At the deadline, the Suns discussed a trade of Durant to the Golden State Warriors, which caught him off-guard.
Durant will be eligible for a two-year, $120 million extension this coming offseason. Durant is on an expiring contract and will be have at least some modicum of control over the process. The Suns acquired Durant at the 2023 trade deadline shortly after Mat Ishbia assumed ownership of the franchise.
Durant finished the season with averages of 26.6 points, 6.0 rebounds and 4.2 assists. Durant will turn 37 in September.
