The Suns path to a title is unclear and that’s the real problem.
As the trade deadline drifts further into the rearview, one thing stands unshaken. Kevin Durant is still a member of the Phoenix Suns. The front office may have picked up the phone, may have entertained a few whispers, but when the dust settled, the 15-time All-Star was still here, still wearing purple and orange, still casually dropping his 30,000th career point like it was just another night at the office.
So that’s it, right? We’re done with the rumors? The speculation? The exhausting what-ifs?
Oh. No? Damn.
I don’t know what the path forward for Phoenix looks like. I don’t know which levers need to be pulled, in what order, or by whom to finally hoist a banner inside the Footprint Center that reads, “NBA Champions.” We’ve all spent years dreaming of that day, spilling into the streets of downtown Phoenix, drenched in championship euphoria. And 113-degree-induced sweat. But how we get there? That part’s a blur. The vision is skewed, and the future is murky.
Is trading Durant this offseason the answer? Maybe. Maybe not. And honestly? Right now? In true Rhett Butler fashion, frankly, my dear, I don’t give a damn.
The talking heads will keep talking. That much is certain. And apparently, the endless “Will he/won’t he?” discourse surrounding Kevin Durant is here to stay, pinging off our eardrums like an unrelenting car alarm.
“I would expect this summer for Durant and the Suns to work together to find a new home.”

Man, I just can’t. I can’t spend the rest of this season drowning in speculation about what the Suns will do with Durant this summer. This team has already been exhausting enough. Poor defense, poor rebounding, poor urgency. Let me suffer in peace without the constant cycle of rumors and hypotheticals. I’ll deal with all that in the offseason.
For now, just leave me alone with the KD talk. I have the end of a disappointing season to watch.
