P.J. Tucker could bring toughness and leadership back to the Suns’ locker room.
The NBA trade deadline hasn’t even hit yet, but the ripple effects of the deals already made are fueling speculation about the buyout market. The Phoenix Suns, with an open roster spot in hand, will undoubtedly be hunting for reinforcements, especially if they don’t bring in more players than they send out before Thursday’s deadline.
Meanwhile, the Utah Jazz and Los Angeles Clippers kicked off last weekend with a trade that, in the grand scheme of things, no one really cares about anymore. Not with the Luka bombshell stealing the show.

So who cares? Well, the Suns might. If the Jazz decide to buy out P.J. Tucker’s contract. Tucker is making $11.5 million this season, just under the league average of $11.9 million, which means Phoenix, despite its second-apron limitations, could theoretically scoop him up.
Would Tucker be a game-changer? Not exactly. He wouldn’t be someone the Suns lean on in high-leverage moments, but his value would come in the form of locker room presence, veteran leadership, and the kind of toughness this team could use.
Plus, bringing back a guy who spent four and a half years in Phoenix during Devin Booker’s formative seasons? That’s an intangible worth considering.
Early odds have been released and the Suns are currently the favorite to acquire Tucker if her were to be made available.

Would you want the Suns to pursue Tucker via the buyout market if the opportunity presented itself?
