Let the preseason predictions begin.
As we swiftly approach the annual prediction frenzy, the NBA community — and the passionate voices here at Bright Side of the Sun — are gearing up to forecast the twists and turns of the upcoming season, with a special focus on our beloved Phoenix Suns. This is the time of year when we peer into the crystal ball, assessing the shifts in the NBA landscape, speculating on which teams will soar, which might stumble, and who will ultimately hoist the Larry O’Brien trophy in triumph.
Our writers are hard at work crafting our traditional Player Preview series, but rest assured, our season predictions are just around the corner. Meanwhile, the airwaves are buzzing with predictions from notable analysts and former NBA stars, each eager to share their take on the season ahead. Some, like the legendary Kevin Garnett, have hinted that last year’s rollercoaster ride in Phoenix might have been an outlier.
Garnett, a former MVP and NBA champion, didn’t shy away from giving the Suns their due on a recent episode of KG Certified. His words were a mix of praise, caution, and perhaps a touch of that signature Garnett grit — a reminder that in the NBA, nothing is ever quite as it seems.
Kevin Garnett says the Phoenix Suns are in for a major bounce back year after being swept by Minnesota last year:
“Devin Booker can be an MVP, you know what I’m saying. Bradley Beal, he can be an MVP. These guys, they got it, bro. And you got KD.”

With former teammate Paul Pierce reminding him that the Suns have, “no depth”, Garnett shared, “Devin Booker can be an MVP, you know what I’m saying. Bradley Beal, he can be an MVP. These guys, they got it, bro. And you got KD.”
I’m not sure if Bradley Beal will be in the running for MVP, but this is high praise from one of the nastiest crap talkers in the history of the Association.
“They’re in rhythm,” Garnett stated, noting that Kevin Durant and Devin Booker were coming off an impressive run in the 2024 Paris Olympics. Garnett added that believed the Suns will win more than 47 games this season.
Now, we know — or at least we think we know — what deficiencies exist on this team. I read them in the comments daily. The lines in our community are being drawn as to where the Suns will succeed and where they will fail. This is based on our roster construction. Note that every team isn’t perfect and every fanbase has their observations as to why. The Suns are no exception.
But they have been slept on nationally, which I’ve stated before is both rightfully so and the exact spot I want to be in. Perhaps more players like Kevin Garnett are seeing something that others don’t want to admit.
Like Garnett said, last year was a “so-called terrible year for them”. Let’s hope this season is a so-called fantastic year.
