The Arizona Cardinals are in offseason mode and we are still weeks away from free agency and months from the NFL draft. Over the next little while, we will take a look at each player on the roster or signed to a reserve deal and break down where they stand with the team.
We will look at their 2024 season, their contract status and what their status is for the coming offseason and 2025 season.
Next up is running back Trey Benson.
2024 Trey Benson stats, season
Benson completed his rookie season after being drafted in the third round. He played in 13 games and rushed for 291 yards and a touchdown, averaging 4.6 yards per attempt. He added six catches for 59 yards. He finished the season on injured reserve, suffering an ankle injury in December.
His best game was against the New York Jets, with 87 total yards, including 62 rushing yards.
He started slowly and started looking better as the season progressed.
2025 contract status
He is under contract through 2027. In 2025, he will earn more than $1.07 million in salary and will count almost $1.38 million against the cap.
Outlook for 2025
Benson will enter the offseason as the No. 2 back behind starter James Conner. He will continue in that role, provided he stays healthy, unless he either moves backward in his development or someone gets hot behind him.
