The Arizona Cardinals are in offseason mode and we are still weeks away from free agency and months from the NFL draft. Over the next little while, we will take a look at each player on the roster or signed to a reserve deal and break down where they stand with the team.
We will look at their 2024 season, their contract status and what their status is for the coming offseason and 2025 season.
Next up is running back James Conner.
2024 James Conner stats, season
After Conner set a career-high in rushing in 2023 with 1,040 yards in 13 games and then said he wanted that to be his baseline.
He followed that up in 2024 with a new career-high with 1,094 rushing yards and 1,508 yards from scrimmage. He played in a career-high 16 games. He was a team captain and led the rushing attack.
2025 contract status
Conner was scheduled to be a free agent but signed a two-year extension worth $19 million in December, signed through 2026. In 2025, he will make $3.64 million in salary, of which $1.5 million is guaranteed. The remainder of his 2025 season will fully guarantee on March 7.
He has a $6.44 million cap hit in 2025.
Outlook for 2025
After his contract extension, he is set to be once again the team’s featured workhorse back. He will likely be a team captain again and will be the team’s clear starting running back.
