Arizona Cardinals add defensive lineman in first mock draft of 2025.
We are into mock draft season.
On a good note, it took until Christmas until we were officially in mock draft mode, which is a nice change of pace for the Arizona Cardinals.
Now, as we head into the 2024 (or is it 2025, I don’t know because the Cardinals rarely participate) NFL Playoffs, we get the first of what will be many, will we get to 1000’s, of 2025 NFL Mock Drafts.
We will start with the Mothership, as J.P. Acosta drops his first mock draft for SB Nation:
16. Derrick Harmon, DT – Oregon
I haven’t done a deep dive on this class, sorry been busy, but looking at some information on Harmon from NFL Draft Buzz:
Teams running multiple fronts will value Harmon’s potential to play across the defensive line. His frame and natural strength profile well for a 3-technique in a 4-3 or as a 5-technique in a 3-4 scheme. Harmon could carve out a role as a rotational player with upside in an NFL defensive line rotation.
Overall, Harmon projects as an impact starter who can contribute on all three downs, especially if he continues to grow as a pass-rusher. Schematically, he’d be the best fit as a 2i-technique in even fronts, but he has the versatility to line up anywhere from a 3-technique to nose tackle.
Harmon’s versatility and football IQ make him a valuable asset on any defensive line. His ability to line up in various and still impact the game speaks volumes to his skillset and abilities.
Good notes on the 6-5 315lbs defensive lineman. Something the Arizona Cardinals can definitely use.
Again, this early in the process, look at position, not names, as the process will move the names all over the place.
