The Arizona Cardinals are in offseason mode and we are still several weeks away from free agency and two months from the NFL draft. Over the next two weeks, we will take a look at each player on the roster or signed to a reserve deal and break down where they stand with the team.
We will look at their 2024 season, their contract status and what their status is for the coming offseason and 2025 season.
Next up is defensive lineman Roy Lopez.
2024 Roy Lopez stats, season
A local favorite with a large family support group in the Phoenix area, Lopez put in good work as the nose tackle in the Cardinals defense while fighting through an ankle injury at the end of the season. He started 16 of 17 games and was inactive for one, playing 467 snaps (46 percent). Lopez totaled 28 tackles (10 solo, four for loss) and had 1.0 sack for 10 yards, five pressures, three quarterback hits, three passes defensed, one forced fumble and one recovery.
2025 contract status
Playing for the minimum $1.055 million in 2024, Lopez is scheduled to be an unrestricted free agent on March 12.
Outlook for 2025
Lopez is one of four potentially returning defensive linemen who will be unrestricted free agents if no deal occurs by March 12. Because of his consistent work on the nose, the Cardinals would like him back as depth for an important position on the line.
