We know that Arizona Cardinals general manager Monti Ossenfort is not afraid of making deals during the NFL draft. So, naturally, in the weeks and months to come before the actual 2025 NFL draft, many mock drafts will project trades for them.
A new first-round mock draft from NFL.com’s Dan Parr does just that.
The Los Angeles Chargers want to reunite tight end Colston Loveland with head coach Jim Harbaugh, and they move up from the 22nd pick in the draft to No, 16, where the Cardinals have their selection.
They give the Cardinals pick No. 22, picks in the third and fourth round in this draft and a 2026 fourth-round pick for No. 16 and their fifth-round pick this year.
The Cardinals move down six picks to pick up a third-round pick, move up a round and get a Day 3 pick next year.
That works.
The Chargers get Loveland and the Cardinals nab a different Michigan player, defensive lineman Kenneth Grant, giving the Cardinals first-round defensive linemen in consecutive years.
Jonathan Gannon finds a new pupil with the potential to become the foundation of his defense. Grant has a rare blend of size (listed at 6-foot-3, 342 pounds) and quickness — it will be up to Gannon to help him put it all together.
Grant could be a force on the defensive interior, where the team currently has a decent group of starters but could definitely use more talent.
Getting Grant and another top-100 player is a good deal, although they do miss out on a pass rusher like Marshall’s Mike Green, who goes 19th to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
