With the 2024 NFL Draft in the books, teams have now moved on to additional roster housekeeping.
The Arizona Cardinals invested heavily at wide receiver and cornerback in this year’s draft, which likely led to the release of wideout Kaden Davis and cornerback Quavian White on Tuesday.
Darren Urban of the Cardinals’ official team website announced the news on X/Twitter. Davis and White both spent last season on Arizona’s practice squad.
The Cardinals made a total of 12 draft picks last weekend, including two wide receivers and three cornerbacks. Their first pick, No. 4 overall, was Ohio State star Marvin Harrison Jr., regarded by most as the best wide receiver, if not the top overall player, in the draft class.
Arizona doubled up at receiver in the sixth round, taking UAB’s Tejhaun Palmer with the 191st overall pick. They also added an undrafted free agent at the position, Colorado’s Xavier Weaver.
At cornerback, the Cardinals selected Max Melton from Rutgers in the second round on Friday before adding Boston College’s Elijah Jones later in the night. Arizona nabbed a third corner, Miami (Fla.)’s Jaden Davis, with the 226th pick of the seventh round on Saturday.
The Cardinals are coming off a 4-13 season in 2023 under first-year head coach Jonathan Gannon.
