The Arizona Cardinals surprise and go defensive back in round one.
Happy Monday one and all.
With the 2025 NFL Combine come and gone, we have some more information as we head into the 2025 NFL offseason, which can help us get a little more clarity on what the Arizona Cardinals will do in the 2025 NFL Draft.
However, none of the free agency stuff has happened, and mock drafts still need to get done.
Today, my buddy Trevor Sikkema dropped a new 2025 NFL Mock Draft and he has me conflicted.
From PFF:
16. ARIZONA CARDINALS: CB WILL JOHNSON, MICHIGAN
Johnson’s draft range is anywhere from the fringe top 10 to the end of the top 20. He might not have the recovery speed to dominate in man coverage, but he has great instincts and downhill stop-and-start agility to be an impact off-zone defender. The Cardinals have plenty of trench needs but could stand to grab a potential CB1 and dive into a deep defensive line class later in the draft.
Johnson would be the first true cornerback off the board, with Travis Hunter and Jhadae Barron going before him, but Hunter being… Hunter, and Barron being more of a safety/nickel type.
I really like Johnson and think he would be a great addition, as my one of the smartest guys I know on defensive backs, Kyle Posey explains:
My blurb on Will Johnson from a week ago. He’s the “out of sight, out of mind/been so good for so long” prospect in the class. The ways you have to beat him aren’t sustainable and to me that says future star. https://t.co/f2znyf8ooc pic.twitter.com/hb5aSqxQVX

The Arizona Cardinals have spent a lot on the corner position, but also, Johnson could be a true alpha and top guy.
It would just be hard to see them pass on some of these defensive line and offensive line prospects.
What do you think?
