The Arizona Cardinals have the bones of their offensive line in place.
The key to a solid free agency is to not have to overpay for a need.
The Arizona Cardinals are going about it the right way, bringing back offensive linemen Evan Brown on a two-year deal and veteran offensive tackle Kelvin Beachum on a one-year deal.
From the team:
Brown (6-3, 320) is back with the Cardinals after starting all 17 games at left guard last season. He was part of an offensive line that helped Arizona run for 2,451 yards in 2024, the third most rushing yards in team history while only allowing 30 sacks, the fifth fewest in the NFL last year. Brown came to the Cardinals last season after starting 16 games at center in 2023 with Seattle and playing 30 games (24 starts) with Detroit between 2021-22.
A six-year NFL veteran, Brown has appeared in 74 games (57 starts) in his career and has starting experience at both center and guard. The 28-year old Brown entered the league with the New York Giants in 2018 as an undrafted rookie free agent from SMU and played with the Giants (2019), Dolphins (2019) and Browns (2020) before joining the Lions in 2020.
Beachum (6-3, 308) remains with Arizona after playing 16 games with 12 starts at tackle last season. He originally joined the Cardinals in 2020 and has played 75 games (62 starts) over the past five seasons with Arizona. Beachum was selected as the Cardinals Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year in 2021 after previously being named the New York Jets Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year in 2018.
The 35-year old Beachum is an 13-year NFL veteran who has played in 179 career games (161 starts) with the Cardinals (2020-24), Jets (2017-19), Jaguars (2016) and Steelers (2012-15) after being drafted by Pittsburgh in the seventh round (248th overall) of the 2012 NFL Draft out of SMU.
This makes the free agency period really simple.
Add pieces on the defensive line and the front seven, if you can find an upgrade along the way at cornerback, guard or tackle, you do it, but you don’t have to.
Solid start, now how the finish looks will matter.
