For the past few months, Cardinals safety Budda Baker has been mentioned in trade rumors. And yet, it sounds like he’ll remain in Arizona for at least the beginning of training camp.
According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Pro Bowl safety is expected to report to training camp in Arizona on Tuesday.
“Cardinals’ Pro Bowl safety Budda Baker, who did not get the trade that he requested this off-season but still is seeking to be paid near the top of the safety market, is expected to report to training camp with the rest of his teammates Tuesday,” Schefter said.
This should end any talks about a potential holdout for Baker.

Baker has made the Pro Bowl five times since entering the NFL in 2017. He’s truly one of the most reliable safeties in the league.
Last season, Baker had 111 combined tackles, seven passes defended and two interceptions.
Baker’s base salary for the 2023 season is set at roughly $13 million. Of course, the Cardinals could alter his contract by offering him an extension.
