Arizona Cardinals head coach Jonathan Gannon appears content to keep his quarterback choice a secret until Sunday against the Cleveland Browns, but fans and analysts are reading the writing on the wall.
According to Omar Ruiz of NFL Network, the open session of the Cardinals’ practice session today saw rookie Clayton Tune and practice squad QB Jeff Driskel throwing to the starters while Kyler Murray was throwing to the lower-string and practice squad players.
“In the portion of #AZCardinals practice open to the media, Kyler Murray threw to receivers lower on the depth chart or practice squad players while Clayton Tune & Jeff Driskel threw to the starters,” Ruiz wrote.
That certainly seems to suggest that Tune will be the starter on Sunday. He’s the designated backup while Driskel is currently on the practice squad.
Most likely they’re giving reps to Driskel in preparation to promote him to the active roster on Sunday.

So unless Jonathan Gannon is just pulling the wool over all of ours with today’s open session of practice, we can probably anticipate Clayton Tune to start, Jeff Driskel to back him up and Murray to be either inactive or their emergency designated QB.
The Cardinals-Browns game will be on Sunday at 1 p.m. ET and will air on CBS.
