Arizona Cardinals tight end Trey McBride is coming off a career season. After setting the franchise single-season record in 2023 for receptions by a tight end with 81 catches, he blew that record away this past season, catching 111 passes for 1,146 yards and two touchdowns.
He earned his first Pro Bowl selection.
Now having finished three seasons in the NFL, he is now eligible for a contract extension.
According to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler, the Cardinals “hope to re-sign” McBride this offseason. It isn’t technically a re-signing, as he still is under contract for 2025 and scheduled to make more than $5.2 million, qualifying for proven performance escalator.
That aside, the Cardinals hope to get McBride signed to a long-term deal.
In New Orleans before the Super Bowl, McBride spoke with PHNX and was asked about the potential contract extension and where things are with negotiations.
“I think (GM Monti Ossenfort) and my agent will start talking here soon, and hopefully we can get something done before the season,” he said.
He made it 100% clear that he wants to remain with the Cardinals, though.
“I fully want to be a Cardinal,” McBride said. “I love being in Arizona and this is where I want to win. This is exactly what I want to do and I’m just excited to see what that next step is.”
