TEMPE — The Arizona Cardinals continue to move in the right direction health-wise with the activation of veteran right tackle Jonah Williams off injured reserve on Wednesday.

“We’re going to take it one day at a time with him,” head coach Jonathan Gannon said ahead of practice.
He marks the latest Cardinal to take a step forward after rookie defensive lineman Darius Robinson made his long-awaited return to practice this week.
Williams, who went down with a knee injury during Week 1’s loss to Buffalo, was designated to return on Oct. 30 and has practiced in a limited fashion since then.
In his place has largely been swing tackle Kelvin Beachum. The veteran has logged eight starts since Williams went down after he started Week 1. Beachum missed one contest due to a hamstring injury.
“Beach has played extremely well. He really has. He did that for us last year, too, but the veteran leadership — he’s a guy that could be a captain,” Gannon said.
“I use his brain a lot with different things. I ask him a lot of different things. He’s been all-in since we’ve been here. He’s been fantastic and he’s played extremely well. Very glad we have him.”
Cardinals S Jalen Thompson is day to day
While Williams is one step closer to playing on game days, that doesn’t appear to be the case with veteran safety Jalen Thompson.

“He’s doing OK,” Gannon said. “He’s working to get back out there. He had a good week last week, so we’ll take it day by day with him.”
Thompson was inactive in Arizona’s win over New York on Nov. 10 with an ankle injury he picked up midweek.
With Thompson nicked up, the Cardinals went out and added safety Andre Chachere to the practice squad for more depth.
Chachere appeared in all 17 games (five starts) for Arizona last year. He registered 30 tackles and three passes defensed.
