The Arizona Cardinals have reportedly made Winston DeLattiboudere their new defensive line coach, replacing Derrick LeBlanc, who was not retained after two seasons at the position. DeLattiboudere has no NFL experience, so it comes mildly surprising.
However, a connection to Cardinals defensive coordinator Nick Rallis connects the dots.
While the two have never worked together, they were college teammates.
Rallis played linebacker collegiately at Minnesota from 2013-2016. DeLattiboudere was there in 2015 as a redshirt freshman and then played from 2016-2019. So they were teammates for two seasons and played on the field together at the same time in Rallis’ senior year.
It would seem the two forged some sort of relationship then. It will be something to ask both of them sometime this offseason.
DeLattiboudere has only offseason and training camp NFL coaching experience and has only been in the coaching ranks at all for five years. We will see how this plays out for the staff and for the players, some of whom are older than he is.
