For the first time in nearly a year, Arizona Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray appears to be fully healthy.
According to NFL insider Ian Rapoport, Murray was a full participant in practice today and has been removed from the injury report. However, Rapoport would not go so far as to anticipate that Murray would play for the Arizona Cardinals this week.
“#AZCardinals QB Kyler Murray, who was a full participant today, is off today’s injury report. That doesn’t necessarily mean he’s playing this week, just that his knee injury is no longer limiting his practice work. Either way, a great sign,” Rapoport wrote.
It certainly is a good sign. The Cardinals have been a shell of themselves in the absence of Murray ever since last season.
They’re just 2-11 in all games started by a quarterback other than Kyler Murray since 2022.
Kyler Murray returning doesn’t necessarily mean that the Cardinals will suddenly morph into playoff contenders either. They’re 1-6 right now and effectively out of the race.
Meanwhile, the Cardinals have changed coaches since Murray last stepped onto an NFL field. It may take a lot of trial and error for Murray to learn and function in the new system.
Murray may be healthy, but we could be a good ways away from seeing him in a game again.
