The NFL season is just one month away, but for one Arizona Cardinals player, it’s over before it could even begin.
According to Cardinals insider Darren Urban, Cardinals running back Marlon Mack suffered an Achilles injury. Per the report, he is officially done for the year now.
Mack joined the Cardinals just five days ago and was expected to compete for time as the team’s backup or third-string running back.
Last season Mack had 16 carries for 84 and a touchdown split between the Denver Broncos and the San Francisco 49ers.
RB Marlon Mack is done for the season with an Achilles injury. Brutal injury for a guy who was here a few days.

It wasn’t too long ago that Marlon Mack was a rising star among NFL running backs. Between 2018 and 2019 he had back-to-back seasons of over 1,000 yards from scrimmage and scored 18 touchdowns in that span.
But a torn Achilles in 2020 ended his season in Week 1 and when he returned in 2021, he was buried on the depth chart behind Jonathan Taylor and Nyheim Hines.
Mack’s career is a testament to how quickly a running back can rise and fall in the NFL. We wish him all of the best in his recovery.
