The Arizona Cardinals added a couple of unsigned players to to their futures reserve, inking them to contracts that will take effect with the new league year. They signed two receivers — Quez Watkins and Trishton Jackson.
Watkins is a speedster who spent four seasons with the Philadelphia Eagles, so he knows Cardinals head coach Jonathan Gannon.
Watkins is six feet tall and 193 pounds and ran a 4.35-second 40 the NFL combine in 2020. He was drafted by the Eagles in the sixth round in 2020. Over four seasons, he played in 49 game and started 25. He caught 98 passes for 1,247 yards and six touchdowns. His most productive season was in 2021 when he had 43 catches for 647 yards.
He signed last offseason with the Pittsburgh Steelers, and spent the entire season on their practice squad.
Jackson, 6-foot-1 and 191 pounds, entered the NFL as an undrafted rookie in 2020 with the Los Angeles Rams. He did not play in 2020 and spent 2021-2024 on the Minnesota Vikings’ practice squad and active roster. He appeared in nine games over the last two seasons, playing a total of 90 offensive snaps. He has two career catches for nine yards. He was on Minnesota’s roster until Oct. 19, signed to the practice squad three days later and spent the rest of the season there.
These two additions give the Cardinals 16 total signings to reserve contracts for 2025. Here is the full list
