The NFL will have a Week 1 game in Sao Paulo, Brazil for the second straight season. The league announced on Wednesday that the Los Angeles Chargers would be the designated home team in a Week 1 game in Sao Paulo, played at Corinthians Arena.
Last season, the Philadelphia Eagles were the designated home team for the game in Brazil against the Green Bay Packers. It was the second game of the NFL season, played on the day after the Thursday NFL season opener.
The Chargers’ game there will also be the Friday of Week 1, the second game of the NFL season.
This is not a game the Arizona Cardinals will be a part of. They will not face the Chargers as one of their opponents in 2025.
So far, the league has announced 2025 international games in Berlin, Madrid, Dublin and three in London, in addition to the game in Sao Paulo. The New York Jets, Cleveland Browns and Jacksonville Jaguars are the designated home teams for the London games, so the Cardinals will not be able to participate in any of those contests, as they do not face any of those teams on the road this coming season. They could face the Indianapolis Colts in Berlin, but cannot play in Dublin as the Pittsburgh Steelers are the designated home team, a team the Cardinals will not face.
