DeAndre Hopkins, Tennessee Titans, Agree to Contract
Even though he is on the older side, DeAndre Hopkins proved that he still has plenty left in his tank during the 2022 season. While injuries and a suspension limited him to just nine games, he still managed to record 64 receptions for 717 yards and three touchdowns on 96 targets.
Hopkins originally entered the league as a first-round pick in the 2013 NFL Draft. Selected by the Houston Texans, the Clemson product didn’t take long to establish himself as one of the best young receivers in the league. Despite dealing with a terrible quarterback situation, the rookie finished the year with 52 receptions for 802 yards and two touchdowns on 91 targets.
Hopkins steadily improved on a yearly basis until he reached his career peak from 2017 to 2019. Over that three year stretch, the wide receiver recorded 315 receptions for 4,115 yards and 31 touchdowns on 487 targets, earning First-Team All-Pro honors in each one of those seasons.
Following the 2019 season, head coach and de-facto general manager Bill O’Brien decided it was time to part ways with Hopkins. In what is widely considered one of the most lopsided trades of all time, Houston sent DeAndre Hopkins and a fourth-round pick to the Cardinals in exchange for David Johnson and a second-round pick. Hopkins enjoyed the new environment, recording 115 receptions for 1,407 yards and six touchdowns on 160 targets while earning yet another Pro Bowl nomination.
Since signing his rookie contract, DeAndre Hopkins has played in 145 games, starting all of them. During his time on the field, the Clemson product has recorded 853 receptions for 11,298 yards and 71 touchdowns.
