Evan Brown, Arizona Cardinals, Agree to Contract
Evan Brown is coming off yet another adequate season. Starting and appearing in all 17 games, the SMU product finished the season with a 65.9 PFF grade, the 30th-best mark out of 77 eligible players. Unfortunately, despite his reliable play, the Arizona Cardinals narrowly missed the playoffs during the second year of the Jonathan Gannon Era.
Brown originally entered the league as an undrafted free agent following the 2019 NFL Draft. Originally making his NFL debut with the New York Giants, Brown bounced around the league before eventually finding a home with the Detroit Lions. After playing a reserve role in 2020, the offensive lineman became a key starter in 2021. Playing 755 snaps at center, Brown finished the year allowing just one sack while drawing four penalties.
The former undrafted free agent proved this strong season wasn’t a fluke in 2022. Splitting time between center and right guard, Brown started 12 games for the Lions while recording a 64.8 PFF grade. While Detroit improved in 2022, they narrowly missed the playoffs as Brown left for greener pastures.
Following the season, Evan Brown signed a one-year contract with the Seattle Seahawks. Starting in 16 games at center, the SMU product finished the season with a 55.5 PFF grade. For the second straight season, Brown’s team missed the playoffs despite posting a winning record.
Since signing his rookie contract, Evan Brown has appeared in 74 games while making 57 starts at guard and center. While he has a decent amount of experience, he has yet to participate in a playoff game.
