Future Hall of Fame defensive end J.J. Watt may have a future as an NFL insider.
On Thursday afternoon, Watt broke the news that Zach Ertz has been released by the Cardinals. The three-time Pro Bowl tight end wants to play for a contender.
Watt’s report regarding Ertz’s release included a playful jab at ESPN insider Adam Schefter.
“Trying new things in retirement, so let’s steal @AdamSchefter job for a day… TE Zach Ertz has requested & been granted his release from the Arizona Cardinals,” Watt wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter. “The 3-Time Pro Bowler plans to sign with a contender and make a run at his 2nd Super Bowl ring. (This is easy Adam).”

Maybe, just maybe, Ertz will return to Philadelphia to finish his career. That would make sense considering the Eagles are banged up at tight end right now.
In seven games this season with the Cardinals, Ertz had 27 receptions for 187 yards and a touchdown.
Ertz hauled in 579 passes for 6,267 yards and 38 touchdowns while on the Eagles from 2013-2021.
