It’s been a difficult first season at the helm for Arizona Cardinals head coach Jonathan Gannon. But after a big win over the Philadelphia Eagles this past week, he recognizes that starting quarterback Kyler Murray will be a big part of any success he has going forward.
Speaking to the media this week, Gannon declared that there is “no doubt” that Murray will be the team’s starting quarterback in 2024.
“There is no doubt,” Gannon said. “‘Number 1’ is our franchise quarterback.”
The announcement comes in spite of the Cardinals being well positioned to draft a franchise quarterback in the 2024 NFL Draft. They could wind up with just about any quarterback, maybe even Caleb Williams if they had the desire to trade up.

Kyler Murray missed the first nine weeks of the season due to an injury he suffered last year. But once he was back, he picked up pretty much right where he left off and has put up solid numbers over his seven starts this year.
He isn’t quite playing at the fringe MVP level we saw two years ago, but that should probably be expected coming off the major injury he suffered.
Will Murray make the Pro Bowl for the Cardinals next season?
