There were a lot of expectations for Arizona Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray, as he entered 2024 fully recovered from his ACL injury he tore at the end of the 2022 season. He skyrocketed up draft boards after fantasy analyst Matthew Berry named him his “ride or die” for the 2024 season. However, Murray failed to reach his ADP and did not finish as a top-five fantasy quarterback as predicted. Kyler Murray has an encouraging dynasty outlook as he looks to rebound in 2025.
Dynasty Outlook for Kyler Murray
Current Production
Murray was the QB8 in fantasy drafts over the summer, with players such as Jayden Daniels, Jared Goff, and Baker Mayfield going much later than Murray. Murray’s season was not terrible, finishing as the QB12 in PPG (Weeks 1-17) and QB10 (Weeks 1-18). He was a low-end QB1 in most fantasy leagues in 2024, which is not terrible. However, it felt like a disappointing year based on the hype he was receiving in the preseason, with many bold predictions that he would finish as a top-five fantasy quarterback.
Murray Dynasty Price
According to KeepTradeCut, Murray entered the season around the QB10 in dynasty rankings and is now the QB13. He is behind C.J. Stroud, Bo Nix, and Jordan Love while ahead of Brock Purdy, Baker Mayfield, and Trevor Lawrence. Murray is worth an early first-round pick in rookie drafts this season in superflex leagues. However, most fantasy managers wouldn’t trade away Murray for just that price. His real worth is at least one first-round pick plus something else, especially in deeper leagues that can start two quarterbacks.
Kyler Murray Dynasty Outlook
Murray will enter 2025 at just 28 years old. He is in the same age range as Josh Allen, Lamar Jackson, and Joe Burrow, so age is not a concern for Murray. Murray has stayed relatively healthy over his career, except for his ACL injury, which cost him time in 2022 and 2023. Other than that, he has played in almost every game since his rookie season in 2019.
For Murray to become a top-eight fantasy quarterback this year, the Cardinals offense will have to take the next step. They drafted college superstar wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. with the sixth overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, but Murray and Harrison Jr. struggled to be on the same page. Hopefully, another offseason to train together will improve their connection. The Cardinals could use more wide receiver help, so look for them to draft one in the upcoming NFL Draft.
The rest of the skill players around Murray are solid, including tight end Trey McBride, who struggled to find the end zone and did not catch a touchdown until Week 17. They have good running backs, including James Conner and Trey Benson. The offense should be better in 2025.
What to Do With Kyler Murray in Dynasty Leagues
Murray is a good buy-low candidate in dynasty leagues. Even though Murray was not terrible in 2024, because of the preseason hype he was receiving, his season was thought to be a disappointment among fantasy owners. Therefore, take advantage of that and try to buy Murray for a lower price and get a solid QB1 for many years ahead.
