Kyler Murray is slated to make his 2023 debut this Sunday.
Arizona Cardinals head coach Jonathan Gannon told reporters Monday that Murray will start their Week 10 game against the Atlanta Falcons if his week of practice goes well. The quarterback hasn’t played since tearing his ACL last December.
Fans are excited about Murray’s return, but many jokingly pointed out one reason why the 26-year-old may not be ready for Sunday.

Murray is a known gamer, and fans haveΒ tracked his performance in relation to releases surrounding the popular video game.
The former No. 1 pick made major strides when taking Arizona to the playoffs with a 100.6 quarterback rating in 2021. Murray signed a five-year, $230 million extension that offseason.
However, last year didn’t go as smoothly for Murray and the Cardinals. He threw 14 touchdowns with seven interceptions and an 87.2 passer rating in 11 games before suffering a season-ending injury early in a loss to the New England Patriots.
After going 4-13 last season, the Cardinals have treated 2023 as a rebuilding year. They have an NFL-worst 1-8 record following Sunday’s 27-0 loss to the Cleveland Browns behind Clayton Tune.
Murray’s arrival won’t catapult Arizona into the playoff race. If anything, some Cardinals fans might be worried he helps the team just enough to cost him the No. 1 or 2 pick. While the Cardinals likely wouldn’t draft Murray’s replacement, they could trade a top choice for a huge haul to a team seeking a franchise quarterback.
His return isn’t definite, but Murray has a shot to take the field when the Cardinals host the Falcons this Sunday at 4:05 p.m. ET.
