The Baltimore Ravens or Carolina Panthers may immediately pursue top trade candidate pass rusher Haason Reddick this upcoming week two. Bleacher Report published an article laying out the 2024 NFL Trade Block Big Board and has Reddick at the top of the list. It’s no secret why he’s there since he’s in a contract standoff with the Jets being that he just got there this offseason. Reddick is demanding a new contract and even went so far as to request a trade again after missing the first game of the season.
According to a report, Adam Schefter said Reddick is accumulating NFL mandatory fines for skipping the offseason and it’s getting worse after missing the Monday Night Opener. It’s becoming more clear that another trade will happen earlier than expected but he probably wants a deal first before going to another roster. The Jets wouldn’t solve their problems unless they trade him to a team that would give Reddick the contract he wants like the Ravens or Panthers. The 29-year-old notched double-digit sacks in each of the past four years while logging 27 sacks.
Carolina should immediately pursue talks with the Jets after losing one of the star defensive pieces, Derrick Brown. It’s fair to think that the Panthers’ new regime is sinking some revival with the arrival of Reddick should be able to kick the tires. There’s no going back for Reddick as ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler believes a trade is imminent and he should be the face of Carolina’s defense if they pursue him. It’s clear that the drama isn’t going anywhere and he doesn’t want to stay with the Jets so they could keep him on the roster near the trade deadline or at least until they get a viable offer.

Times May Change
Joe Douglas made it clear that they wouldn’t trade Reddick but the Jets would be foolish not to since they could use this opportunity to get the best offer from the highest bidder. New York is reportedly refusing to negotiate with him until he reports to the team which never comes out well for both sides considering it will just go back and forth. Reddick is looking for $25 million per year and that might be something that the Ravens could pay.
Baltimore is looking young in their pass-rushing unit with Odafe Oweh and David Ojabo stepping up for the loss of Jadeveon Clowney. Kyle Van Noy will return at some point this year but the urgency to add a proven veteran is crucial to their championship run. There’s no doubt that Reddick would consider joining a team like the Ravens and he may be open to signing a generous two-year contract since they’re a contender.
Other Possible Trade Destinations
Los Angeles Chargers
Jim Harbaugh wants to ensure the team wins football games in the trenches. They may have Joey Bosa and Khalil Mack in the lineup but adding another exploding pass-rusher would boost their playoff chances. It would help give Justin Herbert some more reps on offense since they look weak in their passing attack and the defense could give the opposing offenses problems. When the Chargers are in a division with the Chiefs and Ravens then Reddick is your established defensive piece to keep around to go against the likes of Lamar Jackson and Patrick Mahomes.
Detroit Lions
The Lions should be in the mix of adding a high-end complement opposite of Aidan Hutchinson. Detroit’s defense is already solid but adding another piece like Reddick would probably make them Super Bowl contenders. They have the right pieces on the roster but with their championship window opening, they shouldn’t oppose adding one more difference-maker.
Arizona Cardinals
A reunion may happen to make Reddick enjoy football again. It’s worth noting that he spent his first four seasons with them so adding a familiar face should boost their playoff chances. Arizona Head Coach Jonathan Glannon was Reddick’s defensive coordinator in 2022 where he earned his first Pro Bowl nod.
