The Arizona Cardinals are going to be without one of their best pass catchers going forward.
Per NFL Network’s Mika Garafolo and Tom Pelissero, the Cardinals are placing tight end Zach Ertz on injured reserve, meaning he’ll miss at least the next four games.
He suffered a quad strain during Sunday’s 20-10 loss to the Seattle Seahawks and ended up finishing the game with three receptions for 19 yards.
The #AZCardinals are putting TE Zach Ertz on IR, sources tell me and @TomPelissero. The three-time Pro Bowler, who has 27 catches for 187 yards and a TD this season, suffered a quad strain on Sunday. The plan is for him to return later in the year.

So far this season, Ertz has 27 receptions for 187 yards and a touchdown. His best game was against the New York Giants on Sept. 17 when he had six receptions for 56 yards.
This is his third season with the Cardinals after the Philadelphia Eagles traded him in 2021.
With Ertz out, Trey McBride will likely take over the starting duties.
The Cardinals’ next game will be against the Baltimore Ravens next Sunday at 4:25 p.m. ET.
