Normally, if a defense limits an opponent to 285 yards of offense (4.7 per play), sacks the quarterback five times for a loss of 34 yards, limits the run game to 65 yards with 63 by running backs on 22 carries and allows only 10 points, the team would emerge with a victory.
However, that’s not what happened in rainy Seattle Sunday as the Arizona Cardinals’ four-game winning streak was snapped by the Seahawks in a 16-6 loss.
Surely, not many games will be won by any team that scores only six points and has a pick-six against them for a touchdown. Still, the way many were claiming the Cardinals defense played “great” Sunday in my mind were overstating things.
Yes, there was a lot of good done by the defense, but it wasn’t “great,” especially in the final two possessions of the game by the Seahawks.
Let me explain.
