Sophia Smith of the United States women’s national team has become quite popular over the past few years, and rightfully so. She’s a 23-year-old forward on track to become a legitimate superstar.
Off the pitch, Smith does a pretty good job of keeping her personal life private. That being said, she’s currently seeing Arizona Cardinals wide receiver Michael Wilson.
Smith and Wilson have been dating since 2019. They met when they were student-athletes at Stanford University.
Last year, Smith shared a photo of them at Stanford along with the caption, “Back where it all began.”
Wilson was selected by the Cardinals with the 94th pick in the 2023 NFL Draft. As a rookie, he hauled in 38 passes for 565 yards and three touchdowns.
Earlier this week, Wilson told reporters that he’s been putting in extra work to ensure that his chemistry with Kyler Murray is at another level this upcoming season.
“The thing that I’m most excited for and most proud about was continuing to build my rapport with Kyler,” Wilson said, via Arizona Sports. “I think that’s been amazing to do. We been throwing every single weekend, been throwing at different high schools.”
As for Smith, what can we say about her talent that hasn’t already been said.
In 2022, Smith was named NWSL Most Valuable Player. The following season, she earned the NWSL Golden Boot.
When she’s not dominating the NWSL, Smith is making a strong case to be the new “face” of women’s soccer in the United States.
Smith flexed her muscles in the final of the SheBelieves Cup, scoring two goals for the USWNT. Her performance lifted the United States to a win over Canada.
We can’t wait to see what the future has in store for Smith.
